A group of divers have stumbled upon a body while carrying out a training exercise off the Clare coast.
It is understood that the body belongs to a female, and it appears to have been underwater for some time.
The Coast Guard was called, and the remains were transferred ashore on a rescue boat. The body was later transported to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
Gardai will later attempt to establish the identity of the deceased.
