Doctors urge parents to vaccinate their daughters against cervical cancer after nosedive of controversial HPV vaccine

Doctors have urged parents to participate in getting their daughters to have the controversial HPV vaccine.

The vaccine is designed to prevent cervical cancer but after a recent TV3 documentary was aired, parents have practically stopped allowing their children to receive the controversial drug.

The documentary featured 150 girls who believe they have had negative side effects to the vaccination and now doctors believe that negative coverage like the documentary is the reason people are opting out of the vaccination.

Doctors have said that there is no causal link between the vaccination and the symptoms described in the documentary such as chronic fatigue and pain that some girls are complaining of and are urging parents to ensure they get their daughters vaccinated.

But parents are very wary about risking their child’s health. One Cavan woman said:
“I’ve already written to her school that voiced my concerns. My daughter will not be put at risk over the HPV vaccine, as far as I can see, it does more harm to the girls than good”.
