Donohoe: “Hospital overcrowding crisis could have been a lot worse if the government hadn’t stepped in before Christmas”

A leading Government minister has claimed that the current overcrowding crisis in the nations hospitals could have been a lot worse, if the government hadn’t stepped in and taken action before Christmas.

The Minister Paschal Donohoe, has said the government should be given some credit for their handling of the situation as they are making every effort to offer greater capacity for hospitals across the country. Minister Donohoe also believes the whole situation could have be worse, but nit for the government’s quick thinking and subsequent actions.

Mr Donohoe said: “I know that Beaumont deals with a huge number of patients, a huge number of cases each day, but this is the very reason why we did put additional investment in place. “In the run up to January, in the run up to this period, to put more beds in our hospitals and to put more facilities in place across our country.”
