Gardai were on hand to help rescue an innocent dog who was left locked inside a car as his owner went shopping yesterday afternoon.
The shocking story comes as both the Gardai and the ISPCA have issued a warning to the public NOT to lock their pets in any hot enclosed spaces during the current heatwave.
In a situation that could have ended drastically the loveable pooch was thankfully rescued by Garda officers near a well know shopping centre in Dublin after a member of the public contacted them when they became concerned for the dog’s safety.
Gardai say thankfully the dog was fine but was in the need of a drink after being left in the car as temperatures outside topped 26C.

Meanwhile the ISPCA have urged pet owners not to leave their pet unattended in the current weather as the heat could cause serious damage to their pets health and could result in death.
Gardai say they are investigating the incident.
