“Don’t make unnecessary journeys” – Heavy rainfall is forecast for many counties today

Don’t take unnecessary journeys, a deluge is forecast for the south-coast of the country with an Orange status warning issued for rainfall in the counties of Cork, Kerry and Waterford today.

Those hoping for a Halcion weekend to top off their summer look set to have their hopes dashed as heavy rainfall is predicted for large swathes of the country.

A status yellow weather warning is also in effect, with wind reaching force 7 last night along the extend of the Irish coast.

The public should refrain from taking risks on treacherous roads, and if going in the sea, should take all precautions to ensure safety.
