Driverless cars: The only thing that will help the future of Irish rural pubs

The Seanad have put forward the idea of driverless cars, in the hope that they would help future business for Irish rural pubs.

Fine Gael Senator Paddy Burke said: “The minister should give some sort of an overview or view on what the Government and his department is doing in relation to driverless cars which are not that far away from being introduced into a lot of countries.

“To be honest I think that it will be a welcome addition to the rural areas because it may be one of the only things that might revitalise the rural pubs.”

Driverless cars are robotic cars capable of sensing surroundings without human input.  It would allow people to be driven home “after having a few jars at night time” said Mr Burke.
