Dublin Bay now part of UNESCO’s patrimony

Dublin Bay has been labelled as one of UNESCO’s Biosphere reserves.

An UNESCO designation means that a particular area is deemed both culturally and biologically diverse, with a long term goal of conserving and developing these qualities in a sustainable manner.

There are only 650 other biospheres worldwide currently under UNESCO’s protection.

To mark this important milestone in Dublin Bay’s history, Dublin City Council have prepared a number of events, including a cruise of the bay, and an art exhibition in St. Anne’s Park.
