Another temporary ban has been put on bathing at Sandymount Strand by Dublin City Council, following tests carried out on Friday.

It was revealed last week that water samples that were taken from Sandymount Strand did not comply with quality standards.

Dublin City Council have said that bathing waters can be affected by weather and tidal conditions, faecal matter from dogs and birds, and temporary overflows from drains.

The results of the sample taken on Friday were received today.
The results indicated that the water still did not meet the required standards.

The council has now placed notices on the beach prohibiting swimming on a temporary basis.
Another sample was taken today, results are expected on Wednesday.
