Dublin gang wars: Gardaí fear gangland attacks as the Regency shooting anniversary nears and firearms seized

Gardaí in Dublin are on high alert as they fear the Kinehan-Hutch gang feud is about to kick off.

They seized a submachine gun and 15 firearms (with 1,300 rounds of ammunition) from a Kinahan arms cache in west Dublin on Monday.

The anniversary of the Regency Hotel murder, where David Byrne was shot dead, is on February 5th. Garda believe retaliation is imminent.

“The Kinahan cartel are always planning something. The anniversary of the Regency is coming up and the cartel will mark that in some way,” said a senior security source.

Another senior garda source said: “The fear is with the anniversary approaching that one side or the other, or both, will carry out some form of spectacular.”
