A GP based in Dublin has gone on trial accused of sexually assaulting two patients at a clinic last year.
The doctor, who cannot be named for legal reasons has denied the charges. The doctor on trial is alleged to have sexually assaulted the patients over a two-day period working as a locum in Dublin in February last year.
Barrister Melanie Greally who Opened the case for the prosecution today, has said that the jury will hear evidence that he touched the breasts of two women he physically examined at the practice.
The first woman who was aged 22 at the time of the alleged offence has begun giving evidence of her discomfort. The jury has heard the second woman – in her 40s – will say she confronted the GP about his actions there and then in front of the practice’s receptionist and two patients in the waiting room. The GP has strongly denied the charges.
