Dublin Rape Crisis Centre reveals there was an increase in calls in 2017




The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has revealed that there was an increase in calls to the centre in the past year.

According to the centre’s annual report, there were almost 13,000 calls to the centre in 2017.

The worrying figures mark an overall increase of 500 from the previous year. The centre which works to help victims of sexual assault also revealed that one of the biggest increases was child sexual abuse case which stood for a total of 34% of calls in 2017.

The centre also revealed that there was a sharp increase of reports from people who met other people online via dating websites.

Meanwhile the DRCC said they also recieved numerous reports from victims who have alleged that they were sexually assaulted at a house party.
