Most of the country has come across Henry one way or the other over the past 4 decades.
There were very sad scenes in Dublin Zoo yesterday, as Henry the Hippo passed away aged 41.
It is understood that Henry was struck down with pneumonia about a month ago, and his health deteriorated steadily since.
RTE was at hand to capture Henry’s last few moments spent in captivity, however, before the animal was euthanised.
Henry’s untimely demise will be shown to the public on the final series of RTE’s program The Zoo.
Dublin Zoo have paid tribute to one of their star attractions. RIP
