The Government has allocated €106m for repair works on the road stretches damaged by flooding and severe weather.

According to Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe, the funds will be made available to local authorities with immediate effect.

The minister said “My Department will contact all local authorities across the country (and) ask them to come back to us with an itemised list of projects they believe need to be done to repair damage caused by storms,”

“When that is shared with us, we will make the funding available.”

Secondary roads across the country, many already in dire need of maintenance, have been left virtually impassable in recent weeks.
