Early winter?: Forecasters say Arctic blast could arrive by late October which will bring heavy frost and sub zero temperatures

Ireland and the UK could very well be heading for an early winter as forecasters in the UK say an Arctic blast is set to arrive by October.

According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, forecasters across the Irish Sea have said long range models have shown that a sudden Arctic blast will sweep in bringing sub zero conditions.

Although no Irish forecaster including Met Eireann have given any predictions in terms of long range forecasts, their counterparts in the UK say winter will start as early as October.

They say strong brisk winds combined with freezing temperatures could hit most of the British Isles before the end of October and the start of November.

If such forecasts prove to be true the weather outlook could see similar conditions that both countries experienced at the beginning of 2018.
