A healthcare worker has been diagnosed with the Ebola virus in Glasgow, Scotland. The woman had recently returned from the west African nation of Sierra Leone, which has been ravaged by the disease.
The patient is in a stable condition and the risk of others becoming infected is low. However, health officials are attempting to reach anyone who may have come into contact with the patient, including passengers on flights to Scotland via Heathrow.
Ebola has devastated communities in several west African countries but there have been very few cases in the west.
