Elderly couple brought to hospital following crash on main Limerick to Tipperary road

Two elderly people who were involved a collision which happened on the main Limerick to Tipperary road have been taken to hospital.

The elderly couple believed to have been man and woman, be aged in their 70s, were travelling on an inbound lane to Limerick when their silver Passat and a dark-grey people-carrier were in involved in a collision.

The crash occurred at a traffic lights junction just above the Ballysimon Roundabout this morning.

Limerick Fire and Rescue Service quickly arrived at the scene along with two ambulances and gardaí blocked the road on both sides.
Gardai have said traffic flow has now returned to normal on the outbound lane to Tipperary.

The elderly couple are not thought to have sustained life threatening injuries. They have been brought by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
