Two elderly people are currently in critical condition in hospital after their car went into a river in Co Donegal.
It is understood the couple were rescued by two people passing by who noticed the car believed to be a Nissan Qashqai submerged in water.
Gardaí say they believe the car crashed into the Swilly Burn river near Porthall in Lifford at approximately 6.30pm on Saturday evening.
The couple aged in their 60s were taken from the car and transferred to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry for treatment via Rescue 118 helicopter which immediately arrived at the scene.
