A 90-year-old man has died after being blown into the side of a bus by a gust of wind as Storm Desmond batters Ireland and the UK.
The elderly man died at the scene in North London after an ambulance crew was called to Chaville Way, near Finchley Central station. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.15pm.
Police said: “At this early stage, officers believe the man was caught by a gust of wind and blown off the pavement against the side of a moving bus.”
A post-mortem examination and formal identification will now take place.
