Police authorities in France have confirmed that an elderly woman aged in 80s has sadly died after being hit with a tear gas canister in Marseille.
In an announcement police said the 80-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by the canister in her home during the yellow vest rioting over the weekend.
It is understood that the elderly woman was hit in the face by the stray object when she was standing in front of the window whilst attempting to close her shutters.
Police say the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died as a result of shock whilst on the operating table.
The woman’s death now brings the total to four as three other people were killed in a weekend of rioting which saw over 136,000 protesters come out across the country in protest of the French Government and President Macron.
