According to a leading member of the People Before Profit party every TD and Government minister would be paid the national industrial wage, if their party manifesto was to be introduced.
The news of the parties daring proposal was revealed by TD Richard Boyd Barrett who said all TD’s should be on the same salaries as the people they represent. Mr Barrett told reporters: “That means when they make decisions that affect other people they will affect them as well. It will give them a real incentive to make the decisions.”
The parties manifesto also states that government ministers would not be given any extra pay or top-ups for holding their portfolios.
The news of the left-wing party policies which also include the abolishment of USC and Water Charges is likely to appeal to voters but it is unlikely to make any change as they are only ruining 18 candidates in the general election
