The Tanaiste and Labour party leader Joan Burton has recently stated that it is highly important that all politicians listen to the Irish people.
Ms Burton’s rather gracious comments come after the Toaiseach Enda Kenny came under immense pressure after he claimed that there were a lot of ‘whingers’ in Castlebar.
Mr Kenny’s brash and crude comments has not gone over well with the voting public and he has been urged to make an apology, but he has refused to do so.
Ms Burton has said she believes that all politicians need to listen to people’s problems in order to try to make Ireland a better place, The Tanaiste explained: “Irish politics is very local and close, I go out and I talk to people all the time. “Obviously not as easily when I have all of you people following me.
“But I talk to people and of course people are hurting, that’s what politicians have to hear because then you out the policies together, that ensure that those kind of people get as much protection and as much improvement as we can make.”
