Mother-of-five Emma Mhic Mhathuna is one of the 209 women affected by the cervical cancer scandal.
According to RTE News, these women received wrong smear test results after being discovered during an audit by the CervicalCheck screening programme.
Ms Mhic Mhathuna was interviewed recently on the Late Late Show where she said that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016, but that in 2018 she found out that a 2013 smear test that incorrectly gave her the all-clear had in reality shown signs that the Dublin woman who is now living down in Kerry had signs of cancer.
It’s understood that her legal team settled with both the HSE and a US laboratory for €7.5 million after the case went to court but was dealt with yesterday morning before a full hearing took place.
