Emotional: Fr D’Arcy – “God makes life easier, and of course priests should be allowed marry”

Speaking on last night’s Ray D’Arcy show, Fr. Brian D’Arcy gave an emotional and insightful interview about religion and life in general.

Speaking about whether priests should be allowed marry:
“I would have been a 10 times better person, maybe a better priest, and certainly a better man if I was allowed marry.”

“Everyone knows I was in love, not as many times as people say I was but everyone knows I was. I didn’t break my vows”, he said.

Joking that he never broke his vows, he told Ray that he was talking to the “wrong Fr. D’Arcy”,

Again, the friend of Terry Wogan, joking about getting a smack on the knuckles about the Vatican stepping in about something he wrote, Fr. D’Arcy said “I didn’t think the Vatican read the Sunday World”.

Things got emotional when the presenter challenged Fr. D’Arcy on why God allows bad things to happen.

Visibly shaken when he thought back to a harrowing experience where he physically had to bury a child, he spoke about how challenging it was to understand why God would allow this to happen.

With a tremendous, off-the-cuff answer, Fr. D’Arcy said:
“God is omnipresent, He is a God of forgiveness, a God of hope, help and strength, and He makes himself present at Mass as to make our life easier”.

Finally, in one last emotional statement, Fr. D’Arcy said:
“Faith is the answer”.
