Fighting a losing war against a relentless tide of popular opposition to water charges, the Taoiseach himself is now claiming that Irish Water contractors are being ‘threatened’ by some members of the Anti-Austerity Alliance.
Mr. Kenny says some workers have been told to ‘be careful’ by members of the far left party. In fact, he referred to this assertions as ‘sinister’.
In response to the Taoiseach’s claims, Anti Austerity Alliance TD Ruth Coppinger has said that she ‘completely rejects’ his comments.
The Irish Water/water charges monstrosity has gone from bad to worse from the moment of its very inception, and the Government is hemorrhaging popularity and support because of it.
It is likely to become the one issue by which this Cabinet will be remembered, and ousted at the next election.
