ESB say up to 20,000 people will be with out power tonight

It has been reported that up to 20,000 people will be without power in the south of the country tonight due to continuing stormy weather.

It is understood that the areas worst affected are Cork, Waterford and Kerry. The ESB say that due to severe lightning which impacts on the ability to deploy crews, most customers currently without supply will not have their power restored until tomorrow at the earliest.

Meanwhile Met Eireann have reissued a status yellow warning. With high gale force winds expected for the South of the country coming from the Irish sea tonight.
