Euro 2016: England denied win after Russia snatch injury time equaliser

There was late controversy in Marseille tonight as England were denied victory by a stubborn Russia in their Euro 2016 Group B fixture this evening.

In what can be described as a fairly non eventful game both teams ended up sharing the spoils and give Wales a clear advantage in Group B. The first half was a pretty even affair with neither side creating any clear chances, with both sides canceling one another out.

However all the action came in the second half as England dominated the vast majority of possession and the English took the lead on the 79 minute when Eric Dier smashed in a fantastic free kick after Harry Kane was fouled on the edge of the box. Although English hearts were broken after a determined Russia nabbed a late equaliser when Berezutski headed home after a long ball was played into the box.

England now face Wales on Thursday needing a positive result in order to leave their own Faye in their own hands going into their final group game.
