Ireland were well beaten in Bordeaux this afternoon by a superior Belgium side who ultimately won 3-0.
During a game that saw little to few chances for Ireland the boys in green did however manage to keep the Belgians quiet until the second half.
Martin O’Neill’s mem were quickly undone in early the second half when the Belgians broke away on the counter attack to the lead through Romelau Lukaku. Ireland did push for an equaliser although they were undone again when Axel Witsel scored a bullet header past Randolph. Lukaku then added a third after Hazard broke free and squared the ball to a unmarked Lukaku.
Ireland now face Italy on Tuesday needing a positive result to stand any chance of making the last 16.
