Euro 2016: Northern Ireland crash out after McCauley own goal

The second battle of Britain saw Wales take the spoils as they beat Northern Ireland 1-0 in their Euro 2016 last 16 tie in Paris this evening.

Northern Ireland’s dreams were dashed when Gareth McCauley turned the ball into his own net after Gareth Bale provided a sublime cross. In a game were the North dominated the possession of was a moment of misfortune that undone Michael O’Neill’s men when stalwart McCauley turned the ball into his own net when Bale fired across the six yard box.

The boys in green and white will surely feel hard done by giving the fact they created more chances than their Welsh counterparts. Wales now go on to the last eight with a fixture against either Hungary or Belgium on the cards next Thursday.
