Euro and the pound: Petition on UK Parliament website calls on Ireland to use a dual currency in order to avoid hard border

The Irish border issue is nearer to being resolved and no solid ideas have been made in order to keep the border open following Brexit.

However that hasn’t stopped the British Government mooting far fetched plans that seem unlikely to be considered let alone being enacted.

But the latest proposal could be in contention for being the most puzzling as a petition on the UK Parliament website has called for a dual currency system being introduced in Ireland.

The latest proposal which claims to solve all problems has strangely gathered some momentum with over 275,000 signatures.

According to UK Parliament petitions, the proposal claims to solve the border issue by introducing a dual Euro / pound currency as legal tender in both the North and South of Ireland.

The strange petition also states that the Republic of Ireland would be dealt with in Euro and Northern Ireland would deal in pounds in regards to imports which would also have fixed Rates.

Although the proposal would suit Brexiteers, it would be highly unlikely that the Irish government nor the EU would accept such a deal.
