While speaking at a conference in Malmo, Sweden the Dalai Lama stirred controversy when he stated that “Europe belongs to Europeans” and that the millions of migrants that flooded the continent in the past few years should return home, the UK Sun reports.
The Buddhist spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate said that Europe should help refugees whose lives are genuinely in danger but that they should eventually be returned home to help rebuild.
The exiled Tibetan leader remarked that countries such as Germany and Sweden, who have seen mass migration from the Middle East and Africa, should return the migrants to their homeland so they can “develop their own country”, Breitbart reported.
The revered icon of peace had previously made similar remarks in 2016 stating that Europe should remain a homeland for its native peoples and referenced Germany in particular stating that it “cannot become an Arab country”.
