Eurovision Fury: British councilor pays the price after abusing the Irish people on Twitter for their choice of vote

The Eurovision Song contest is never without controversy every year as all the well known nations across the content (hmmm apart from Israel and Australia) compete for the coveted singing accolade.

Well now it seems Ireland is on the tale end of some pretty harsh abuse coming from across the Irish Sea today after the Irish viewing public failed to award a fair share points to the UK’s act last night.

Apart from a a less than appealing response from their representative former X Factor contestant and Welsh singer Lucy Jones, it seems our great nation has been subjected to a barrage of abuse on social media for not agreeing to honour the time old block voting system which has been labelled unfair in the past.

However the UK’s rather dismal showing and Ireland’s lack of leniency in awarding points became too much for one British councilor after he released a rather abusive tweet towards the Irish people after it was revealed the country awarded its twelve points to Belgium.

In the tweet which is shown below the Warwick conservative councillor Nick Harrington had his say by slamming the Irish support and calling the nations people a bunch of gypsies.

Although his actions were met with the typical Irish good grace and humour the politician ultimately payed the price for his candid remarks as Warwick District Council, Councillor Andrew that Mr Harrington has been suspended “with immediate effect for six month.”

Speaking to reporters a spokesperson for the council confirmed Mr Harrington’s suspension saying: ” I found his comments completely unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, a separate investigation has also been launched into the incident.
