Everyone can’t have everything: Taoiseach takes a swipe at Fianna Fail by stating that their promises would bankrupt the country once again

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has seemingly taken a swipe at Fianna Fail by claiming their proposals would bankrupt the country.

According to RTE News, Mr Varadkar who was speaking at a private meeting between Fine Gael senators at Leinster House, claimed that the opposition party who supports the current minority led Fine Gael Government would leave the country in financial ruin as their promises would cost billions of euro.

The Taoiseach also claimed he would be keeping his eye on every financial promise made by the Fianna Fail party.

Mr Varadkar suggested that if those promises were to be fulfilled Michael Martin’s party would bankrupt the country as they have been known to do it in the past.

The Taoiseach added that he felt the need to call out Fianna Fail as their promises to everyone needed to be highlighted.

It is expected the Taoiseach’s comments will not go down with Fianna Fail who have previously called on the Government to prioritise key issues including homelessness and the ongoing hospital overcrowding crisis.
