Facebook will soon introduce changes to its newsfeed, to make the user experience more ‘meaningful’

Facebook’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced upcoming changes to the way Facebook’s newsfeed operates, to make the experience more ‘meaningful’ for users.

The changes were prompted by Facebook’s increasing involvement in cyber-bullying, fake news, and other social issues, which have made the application ‘lose sight’ of its original intent to ‘bring people closer together’.

Though it is yet unclear what the specifics of these changes will be, it is widely speculated that people’s newsfeeds will begin displaying more content from people they actually know, and less from news agencies or other professional organizations.

The changes are aimed are making people interact with people they ‘care about’.

Investors didn’t take to the news with glee, however. The announcement caused Facebook shares’ worth to drop by almost 4.5%, instantly wiping $3.3bn off Zuckerberg’s fortune.
