Factory worker fighting for his life after molten metal falls on top of him melting his skin in a freak workplace accident

A night shift worker at a metals factory in the UK is fighting for his life in hospital after he was covered in molten metal following workplace accident.

The horrific accident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning at the Britannia Refined Metals plant, in Northfleet, Kent, has left the young man aged in 20s fighting for his life in East Grinstead Hospital, after he suffered major burns to his body.

According to reports in the UK, the young man sustained life-threatening injuries after the molten metal fell from above him and landed directly on top of him causing his skin to melt.

It is believed that emergency crews who were called to the plant at approximatley 1:15am on Thursday morning, spent over two hours treating the man who sustained burns to his head, neck, back, abdomen and legs.

Although the young man was initially taken to Tunbridge Hospital he was later transferred to East Grinstead Hospital due to the extent of his injuries he recieved in the incident.

Police say a number of co-workers rushed to the aid of the man after they heard his screams, it is understood they quickly rushed him to a nearby shower to cool his burns before calling emergency services.

Officers investigating the case say they were alerted to the incident at approximatley 1:15am on Thursday morning.

They added that they currently trying to determine the cause of the incident, but early indications confirm that the man sustained the serious burn injuries in a workplace accident.

It is also understood that the relevant health and safety authority have been informed.
