The co-creator of the comedy sitcoms ‘Father Ted’ and the ‘IT Crowd’ has been given a verbal warning by police after he was reported for transphobia on twitter.

According to the BBC, Graham Linehan was warned by police to have no further contact with Stephanie Hayden, a trans-woman who reported Mr Linehan for using male pronouns to refer to Hayden on twitter.

Linehan also referred to Hayden by her male names that she was called by before her transition and she is now suing the writer.

Police issue harassment warnings to deter individuals from contacting a complainant but they are not as serious as cautions though they do appear on enhanced criminal records checks.

Ironically, Linehan had previously hit out at twitter for allowing a platform for “verified Nazis” and not banning President Trump for threatening the North Korean regime.
