Labour TD Anne Ferris has said that strongly believes and is fully prepared to be thrown out of the Labour Party for controversialy voting in favour of Clare Daly’s fatal foetal abnormality bill last night.

The news comes as Labour Party Leader and Tanaiste Joan Burton claims that the bill is unconstitutional. It is understood that that Wicklow native Ferris was one of 20 Labour members who wrote to the then Minister for Health Dr James Reilly in 2012 to allow abortion in the case of fatal foetal abnormality. Mrs Ferris said she is in favour of the bill and would like to see Clare Daly’s bill progress to Committee stage so that its provisions could be examined by legal and medical experts.

Meanwhile Sinn Féin have released a statement saying that they will abstain from the vote, while it is thought that Fianna Fáil TDs have a free vote.
