There was good news for both Fianna Fáil and Independent TDs over the weekend as the first poll of 2017 showed a surge in support for the opposition.
The latest poll conducted by ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’ has revealed that Fianna Fáil have a 6 point lead on their rivals Fine Gael, with 29% of people supporting Mr Martin and his colleagues.
However the poll makes for bad reading for Mr Kenny as Fine Gael have dropped by three points to 23%.
Meanwhile Sinn Féin have also dropped by 2 points down to 17%, whilst the AAA/PBP are up 1% to 5% – with Labour unchanged on 5%.
However there was bad news for The Independent Alliance and the Green party as they have dropped to 3%, whilst the Social Democrats remain on 1%, with Renua failing to register.
Although the unaligned independents will be more than happy are up to 15% from 7% in the previous poll.
