Belgium have pulled off a memorable victory as they beat Brazil 2-1 to book their place in FIFA World Cup semi-finals.

In another surprise result Roberto Martinez’s men held onto to dump the five time World Cup champions out of the tournament.

Belgium who narrowly beat Japan in the last 16, didn’t show any signs of a hangover and they put a superb performance to book their place in the last four.

The Belgians who showed no fear against a much fancied Brazil side deservedly took the lead when Vincent Kompany’s header from a Belgian corner was unfortunately touched in by Fernandinho at the near post.

Belgium who dominated the play in the first half surprisingly went further ahead when Kevin De Brunye struck a superb low shot past Brazilian keeper Allison.

Brazil who had a number of chances in the first half could consider themselves unlucky not to pull one back as Fernandinho struck the post from six yards out.

The second half seen the Brazilians up the tempo and following a number of substitutions they were rewarded when Augusto powered a header past Cortouis to put them back in the game.

However despite a number of penalty claims and a late Neymar strike which was brilliantly saved by Cortouis, the Brazilians were unable to find a much needed equaliser.

Belgium now go on to face France in the final up for grabs.
