The English World Cup dream is still alive this evening as they beat Sweden 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals.

Gareth Southgate’s men are one step away from the World Cup Final as they put away a poor Sweden side this afternoon.

England who needed extra time against Colombia on Tuesday, showed no signs of any hangovers as they dominated a Swedish side that lacked any real creativity.

The English who will now go on to face either Croatia or Russia, have Harry Maguire and Dele Alli to thank as their two goals put them through.

The game as a whole a was a rather a cagey affair with both sides determined to hold their ground and not concede.

However England struck first when Harry Maguire powered home a header from a corner on the 30th minute.

Although Sweden upped the tempo in the second half with Jordan Pickford being kept relatively busy and he was forced to pull off some superb saves to keep England ahead.

The game was all but over when Dele Alli scored England’s second goal with header from the edge of the six yard box.

Although Sweden pushed hard to get back in the game with Berg missing a couple of half chances, but England managed to hold on and book their place in the last four.
