The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has claimed that the Irish economy is growing at a rapid rate and that almost all jobs lost during the recession have since been recovered.
Mr Donohoe who was speaking on Tuesday claimed that seven out of ten jobs lost during the recession were recovered in the last number of years due to Ireland’s ever growing economy.
He also revealed that latest figures complied by his department found that there almost 2.1 million people currently in full-time employment in Ireland.
Although he did state Ireland’s recent upturn will take an expected downturn in the coming years, Mr Donohoe said he was more than pleased with the current economic rate in Ireland and he fully believes the country will be once again named as Europe’s fastest growing nation when it comes to creating and retaining employment within its borders.
The finance minister added from his understanding the employment growth figures are expected to surpass the projected 4.3% target in the coming months ahead.
