First world Ireland, Third world health service – we’re a staggering 2,500 beds short of what’s needed

It’s getting more frustrating by the day – A&E departments simply can’t cope. A review board has revealed that we’re a staggering 2,500 beds short of what we actually need.

But sure who cares about the average Joe on the street – not the HSE or government apparently.

A review into the dire conditions of the Irish health service has recommended that up to 2,500 extra beds are made available by the year 2030, to cope with expected demand.

The hospital network is currently under severe strain, with record numbers of people suffering on trolleys on a daily basis.

With the flu season about to peak, the situation is bound to get much worse.
