The Department of Education have confirmed that they will be adding Physical Education to the Leaving Cert syllabus from next year.
Under the new PE examination guidelines students will be required to complete three components which will include a physical activity project, a performance assessment and a written examination.
The introduction of the subject to the curriculum will come as the Government will look to promote its long term health campaign that intends to cut Ireland’s obesity rate and improve the health of young people in the future.
It is though up to 50 schools will be opting to test the subject in their Leaving Cert syllabus in 2018.
