Police in the North have sadly confirmed that a five year old boy has tragically died following a drowning incident in Co Antrim.
It is understood the young boy died in hospital after he was recovered from the river at approximately 1:45pm on Saturday afternoon.
A PSNI spokesperson said a major search was launched after the young child fell into the Braid River near Skye Park in Ballymena, Co Antrim, at around 1pm.
They added that he was later found near Tullaghgarley, he was then taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
