Storm Desmond may be gone, but its devastating effects will be felt for some time to come.

With more rain expected, the risk of flooding remains very high indeed, particularly in the Clare, Limerick, and Shannon areas. This will be exacerbated by the predominance of strong southerly winds throughout the morning.

A spell of heavy rain will move eastwards during the afternoon. Rain will clear towards the evening, though showers will occur later in the night.

It will remain windy and showery tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday will be cold and wet, with showers spreading from the west as the day progresses.
