Flu outbreak: Doctors advise everyone to get the flu jab after major breakout of influenza across Ireland

Not just your common cold, doctors have said that there’s a major outbreak of flu across the country with 2 in every 1,000 people having a severe bout of influenza – and it’s spreading, fast.

Symptoms of a bad fever, sweating, aches across the shoulders and the back of the neck and joint pain are being reported to GP’s across the country, with a severe outbreak being reported over the past 10 day Christmas period.

Dr Gerard Harrold claims:
“We’ve seen an unprecedented number of patients present with flu over the past couple of weeks. We’re looking at a a 10 week period where people are susceptible to getting the flu. It’s a serious problem, particularly for anyone with an underlying condition such as bowel, stomach, heart, lungs or joint problems”.

The advice is simple, get the flu jab as fast as you can and if you already have contracted the flu, stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids and stay as warm as possible until it passes.
