One of the country’s biggest supermarket chain has issued a food recall amid health and safety fears.
The supermarket Lidl Ireland have issued the recall for because of “an elevated level of tropane alkaloids”.
In a statement released on the Food Safety Authority Ireland website, Lidl said the following: “Lidl Ireland is recalling the above two batches of Snack Day Sweet Popcorn due to an elevated level of tropane alkaloids.”
“The implicated product was on sale in Lidl Ireland stores from 7th May.”
“Lidl has issued an in-store notice requesting customers who have bought this product to return it to a Lidl store.”
They also say all packets of the popcorn with a sell by date of February 2019 must be returned.
Lidl say anyone who purchased the popcorn will be entitled to a full refund once they return it in store.
