The issue of the new maternity hospital is rapidly becoming a new Irish Water for the Government, as the crisis deepens with every passing day.
Current Minister for Health, Simon Harris, yesterday called for ‘cool heads’, after public outcry about the proposed ownwership of the facility by a religious organization.
Today, Minister for Social Protection (and former Minister for Health) Leo Varadkar, has joined the fray and appealed for ‘calm’, insisting that the facility must be built as a matter of urgency. He added that the new hospital will have ‘medical independence,’ regardless of ownership.
