Four teenagers, two males and two females, have suffered serious injuries after two carriages collided in the Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers.
Twelve other occupants of the ride also received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The most seriously injured were later evauated via air ambulance.
The £18m ride, which opened in May 2013, has been closed down twice previously due technical issues.
