The brave little girl fought a very rare and aggressive form of brain tumor during most of her short life, but sadly lost the battle yesterday.
Kasey was diagnosed at just 10 months old with Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid or ATRT, an extremely rare but aggressive form of brain cancer. In March 2012, the family travelled to Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for specialist surgery.
But two days ago her condition took a turn for the worst, and Kasey passed away peacefully yesterday.
Her mother Michelle Kelly broke the sad news on Kasey’s Facebook page, writing:
Little Kasey Kelly has lost her battle with cancer aged 4
‘Our darling Kasey is now an angel. She passed today surrounded by her Mammy and family at 4.30.’
‘She is out of pain and running free with all her pals above. We are heartbroken but she is now at peace.
‘She waited for all the family to arrive and was surrounded by so much people who loved her.
‘We love you darling, you’ll be the brightest star above.’
