Free ride: Tubridy goes very easy on Varadkar asking no hard questions

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was interviewed on tonight’s Late Late Show.

The 6ft 4″ Varadkar tripped on the step onto the stage and nearly fell down on his back only for Tubridy to grab his hand and secure him to the couch. Varadkar started off immediately by saying how he got the Eight Amendment repealed and how homeless people keep him awake at night.

The interview appeared to be somewhat smarmy with Varadkar appearing to be second guessing absolutely everything he said before talking. He almost paused for 10 seconds before answering whether the HSE was fit for purpose or not. He said that he has a plan to change the HSE, as if we haven’t heard that innumerable times before.

The most notable part of the interview was how easy host Ryan Tubridy went on Varadkar. The comparison between this interview and the one that Peter Casey had to endure was startling.
